Hello, my dear friends, Today let me share a very interesting blog and take you along with me to a beautiful world left behind!!! off late if you are feeling that there is something that you are missing though you are having everything and everyone you love with you, then let me tell you this; if am not wrong, it’s the very little things that have eventually faded out from our life!! The most treasurable things and moments that are vaguely seen in your soul, still clinging onto our memories... The 1990s is the most unforgettable years of my childhood and it’s so the same with many, today we live in the most sophisticated digital world. Life at our fingertips. The ultra-modern era of life. Yet aren’t we looking out for the little joys which are no more among us, but was part of our living until we grew up. . . . . Running out at the gusting noise just to wave at the sky to that tiny little aeroplane ✈️ up the sky, wondering people flying up there would wave back:) Innocence in childhood brought in a lot of happiness. To the orange candy 🍬 which was just refreshing the soul, those 25, 50,10 paise coins once had a lot of value, clinging noise of coin filled pockets, those 1, 2 and 5 rupee coins were just enough to buy in those little treats, amazing stickers, ice lollipops, and gummers!! Trading your favorite collection of cards with friends was just amazing. The school was so much fun, Milton water bottles, carrier tiffins, and those colorful napkins. Just recall-the exam boards filled in with stickers and the holiest child seen with god’s photo along was how we walked into exam halls. Getting back home in buses, vans and rickshaws 🛺 just piled up kids stuck to each other and sometimes wondering if the vehicle will topple over for overloaded kids in ricks ;) On cold winters- a cup of noodles was all my eyes looked out for, those desserts to add on was apple cakes, honey jam cakes and doughnuts were 🍩 never a miss!! The carts outside the school with evenings smelling of steamy sweet corn, and salty peanuts roasted was the best snack !! Summers came along with ice sticks, colas and lollies were the fruity colour statements made!! Life was just simple with minimal things and of course, we were joyful always. Those coin booths were such a savior to ring up home if we were late with practices ( now the extinct PCO call booths). Games like coco, lagori, macro polo, cricket 🏏 were my all-time favorite!! We did have our favorite hangouts too..... playground, basketball court, art class, music, dance classes, and canteens !!!!!! None did like to stay indoors to play, the call from your neighborhood friends at your doorstep the streets out were the play station for us!!! Video games such as brick fall, parachute jumps computer game the first the foremost Dave games can never be forgotten. Vacations were so much fun, grandma’s ghost stories were way beyond Netflix and amazon series!!! The love for a street puppy to become the little adopted parent, the cook along with parties with friends ( fireless cooking) those pajama parties 🥳 were introduced us the by 90’s kiddos!! Ribbon tied up hair, colorful erasers with a fruity smell, tattoos of favorite cartoon characters, those jolly dots in our palms, radium watches, studded earrings, square-shaped bags, those fairy pictured trolley school bags, Lunch baskets, hair bands, fancy pencil box, sharpeners, colorful rubber pencils ✏️ and stick pens were the most important assets back then. It’s the most beautiful era without mobile phones, we spoke to each other, made friends face to face without Facebook and we did message too, those tiny bits of message handwritten and passed over, what’s app was just not required among us...oh yes, we could create our very own emojis too!! :) Letters and Postcards, before emails. Cameras with postcard images before phone cameras. Tape recorders and walk-mans journeyed with us. Stage shows, theatre and dramas before social media entertainments!!! Forget not our very friendly box tv 📺 gathered all of us together, and the power cuts with candlelight brought in the most talented shadow artist, before flat screens LCDs and LED’s!! Sometimes the interior designers in us created the tent houses using bedsheets and having moonlight dinners was so overwhelming than the so-called candlelight dinners now!! The only mode to see each other was to visit each other and not video calls!!! Developing knowledge by reading encyclopedia, quiz books, playing crossword in newspapers, and reading every line of NIE newspapers. Our all-time favorite entertainment books were not magazines; but the very famous tinkle, readers digest, Ramu and Shamu comics, Supandi stories, partnered with Tom and Jerry oh what a wonderful phase it was, libraries before Google!! Aren’t we blessed to be so-called the 90's kid!!! We have witnessed two different worlds the times without digital move and now the so-called Digital Modern Era!! Let’s not bury the memories within us; bring it out to the upcoming generation let them not be completely dependent on this digitalized world, for we do need moderation but let us carry forward the good things that we learned and which was part of our life and upbringing, carry it forward so that we sow in the seeds for healthy living with innovative minds and positive thoughts!!! 😊 Much love 💗 ~ Swetha G ✍🏻
